CONSUMER MARKETS
The consumer market is mostly familiar with 3D from cinema. Even if an increasing number of home displays are 3D-ready, the usage is quite small. However with larger availability of content and improved display technology the penetration of 3D will probably pick up speed. A consortium has been established in the US to build the necessary infrastructure to support a wider uptake of 3D in private homes. Setred has joined this consortium.
Setred is initially focusing on users of advanced visualisation where complex geometrical issues are to be solved. In the consumer markets potential usage areas are gaming, casinos and theme parks. The first version of the display will be available for end users in 2009.
